Post- matric scholarships are devised to provide financial support to students for completing their post-secondary or post-matriculation studies, which includes Class 11 to Doctoral-level courses. Students who require financial assistance to pay their higher education fees from Class 11 to PhD programs are encouraged to apply for Post-matric Scholarships. Various Post-matric scholarships are offered by the Central Government of India and the different Indian state governments. Among the eligible candidates for Post-matric scholarships are Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), Minority Communities, and Economically Backward Classes (EBCs).
The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) contains information about the Post-matric Scholarships provided by the Union Government of India and the various state governments. However, some state governments have their own scholarship portals where they post notifications about the varied Post-matric scholarships available for the various sections of society.
While 30% of the Post-matric scholarships are reserved for female candidates, male candidates are granted the scholarship when girl students are not available.
Post-Matric Scholarships: Application Process
The application process for different Post-matric scholarships varies. However, most Post-matric scholarship portals accept online applications from eligible students. The NSP lists several Post-matric scholarships, whereby students from all over India can apply online. Students can also apply online for the available state-sponsored Post-matric scholarships via corresponding state government scholarship portals.
Students can submit their applications on the relevant scholarship portals, depending on whether they are applying for Pre-matric scholarships or Post-matric scholarships. Where the NSP is concerned, students have to first register themselves for the system to generate their login details, including “Application ID” and “Password”. Thereafter, you are required to sign in with your login credentials to access your account. Subsequently, you have to proceed by providing some mandatory details in the online application form and uploading the relevant list of documents. Always check all details in your application form and make any changes, if required. After making the required corrections, you should submit your application.
Students are advised to apply only upon meeting the given eligibility norms of the specific Post-matric scholarship; else, their applications will be rejected. Moreover, ensure to submit your Post-matric scholarship application before the prescribed timeline.
